Serological and Epidermiological Survey on Japanese Encephalitis in Chunnam Province

Abstract
|
|
|
Surveys on atmospheric phenomena, entomological investigation, antibody titers of amplifing hosts and patients of Japanese Encephalitis (J E) have been carried out in the endemic area of Chunnam from 1981 to 1983.
1. It was found that the monthly average air temperatures in January, June, July and .august for the past 3 years were 0.5℃, 22.1℃, 25℃, and 26℃ respectively.
2. The Culex ritaeniprhynchi was first found in the begining of June. The density of the Culex tritasniorhynchi increased fast and reached the highest in the latter half of July and the spatus of the density until the latter part of September Comparing the density of the past 3 years, we found that of 1982 the highest.
3. Hemagglutinatioa inhibition(HI) antibody titers in the sera of the swipes older than 6 1nontas and yoa.lger than 12 months readied higher than 50% during the days August 16 to 24 for the past 3 years.
4. HI antibody titers in the ducks tested showed 64.5% in the middle of September.
5. An analysis of the age distribution of cases of JE during the 3 years from 1981 to 1983 shmved that 31.1% and 27% of the total cases occurred in the 6~10 age group, and 11~15age group respectively.
It ssems that age groups suffered are inclined to get higher. This distribution of the male (67.8%) iioived higher than of female (32.2% )
7. Patients of JE were first found during the 3 days .-from August 3 to August 6 for the 3 years.
Also, the time of the first occurrence was getting relatively earlier than usual.
